Vinyl floors have become more and more popular in the construction and renovation worlds, and not for nothing. Many people opt for vinyl flooring for its many advantages, but did you know that a number of different vinyl flooring options exist? No? Well, it works out… That’s what we’re here for!
Recently, vinyl floors have been primarily used to give the appearance of wood, stone, ceramic or concrete, without the labour and mess associated with installation, the higher price of materials, and their varying limitations.
As a general rule, these floors are produced in a number of thicknesses, with wood-plastic composite or stone-plastic composite. They are waterproof, durable, and cater to a variety of projects. You may be wondering what the difference is between the two composites. It’s exactly that answer that we will explore in this article!
WPC (Wood Plastic Composite)
This artificial material is created thanks to a process that allows the combination of pulverized natural wood fibres into a special resin comprised of polymers and additives. This is how we are able to obtain a product that resembles wood, but that is as resistant as plastic resin.
These characteristics allow it to be used in places where there is an increased risk of contact with water, as well as outdoors, without being restricted. Resistant and durable, it is also the perfect material for environments where the conditions of use are more severe.
In addition, unlike other materials, this type of floor does not absorb liquids and is resistant to mites, mold, microorganisms and various parasites.
SPC (Stone Plastic Composite)
Unlike WPC floors, this type of floor is the result of a process that binds stone powder to PVC resin.
Its polymer core makes it an even stronger material than its counterpart, and its thinner top layer fused to the core makes this product very stable. Like the latter, it is a durable, water- and weather-resistant product. In addition, the presence of stone in its composition makes this type of floor a flame retardant.
As a general rule, vinyl floors are cost-effective, easy to maintain, resistant and durable. Planchers St-Hubert has a wide variety of products in stock. Moreover, our team has the knowledge to help you make an informed choice based on your needs.
